Orkney Folk

The Orkney Folk Festival is a well-established and very successful event in the Orkney calendar. The festival is celebrated at the end of May and, though it is based in Stromness there are concerts all over the Mainland and outer isles. Performers and audience come from all over Britain and even further afield and join the locals in having a thoroughly good time.

If you can't make it this year, here is the next best thing; a compilation album of the best of the music scene in Orkney. Produced by the festival committee, it is a marvellous mix of instrumental and vocals, of the lively and the lyrical and the proceeds go towards the running costs of the festival. It is impossible to choose which performers to mention, so here is the list of contents. Some sample tracks will be on-line soon.
