Price: £108.00

Supplier: Sheila Fleet

Product Description

The earliest piece of Orkney writing discovered so far is on a spindle whorl dug up at the Point of Buckquoy, near the Brough of Birsay. Around about 500 AD, a Pict scratched ' A Blessing on the soul of L' on the top, in Ogham. Sheila Fleet's silver and enamel brooch, the same shape, and about the same size as the whorl makes a lovely gift, as the Ogham characters spell out 'A Blessing on the Soul'.

The brooch is part of the Skyran collection which, very appropriately meand 'to shine brightly'. There is a matching bracelet and pendant.

40mm diameter
