Diving
Scapa Flow is one of the world's top spots for diving, thanks to the scuttling of the German Fleet in 1919. Hundreds of divers visit every year and local firms provide boats, gas tanks, suit repairs, dive hoods and all the other essentials. Divers can, of course, stick with the traditional, boring neoprene hood or, thanks to Scapa Scuba, they can opt for something a little different.
If you are a diver, how can you possibly not want to pop Tigger's head up through a hatch in a wreck? If your spouse, sibling or parent is a diver, get them a diving hood for their birthday and show them whether you picture them as Batman or a clown fish.
The seven ships of the scuttled German fleet that still lie in Scapa Flow, and the clear water they lie in, make Orkney one of the world's top diving destinations. Scapa Scuba, based in the old Stromness Lifeboat Shed, is one of the firms providing services to divers.
As well as running a dive boat and repairing dry suits they make this wonderful range of diving hoods.
The demand for these excellent hoods as Christmas presents was so high that Scapa Scuba are having to work hard now on building up stock again. This means that there will be a wait of a few weeks on any January orders. If required, we'd be happy to give a more accurate estimate before an order is placed.
