Crafts
Craft work in Orkney is impressive in its quality and variety. Hand-worked silver, hand-thrown pottery, woodwork, knitwear and much more is produced all over the islands. Several of Orkney’s best craft businesses are on the Craft Traill. This means that visitors are welcome to visit their workshops, to chat and watch them at work and see the lovely things they make. The trail brochure provides a map and some details about all the businesses involved.
I'm not sure of the English translation of eerie-orum, perhaps 'knick-knack' comes closest. Other suggestions are welcome.

These art quilts are ideal wall hangings, bringing warmth and texture to pale walls. Pat Sutherland's striking designs, many of them inspired by the Orkney landscape, act as a focal point and conversation piece. The sizes range from 18 x 20ins to approx 3ft square. There are larger quilts in the Home Furnishing department.
