Stuart Garson

Stuart Sinclair Garson (1898-1977) was born in St Catherines, Ontario. His Orcadian father William died when he was 13. Stuart Garson was Premier of Manitoba 1943-48 and joined the Canadian Liberal government under Louis St Laurent in 1948. He was Minister of Justice and Attorney General from 1948 until the conservatives came to power in 1957. He was also Solicitor General 1950 - 52.
He was created a Companion of the Order of Canada in 1971.
